Yes, that's right, we have a date and a location!
We will be getting married on Friday, May 13, 2011 at Primrose Cottage in downtown Roswell. Yes, that is a Friday the 13th. We don't believe in bad luck or any of that superstitious stuff, so its going to be a great day and will have a whole different meaning to us. Plus, no one will forget it, right!?
Ever since we moved to Roswell/Marietta and I was old enough to start thinking about my wedding day (lets just say age 10 for reference purposes, probably earlier), I have wanted to get married in Roswell. There is so much history to this town and the old homes here are just gorgeous. But, I never thought we would be able to afford it. There are so many different wedding venues in Roswell and each one has its own unique since of style and history. Some are just the homes, and others have a reception hall attached. Because of the historical regulations in Roswell, not all the homes have a large enough space to hold over 100 guests. As much as I was hoping to have a small wedding (budget reasons), it seems like we will be going over the 100 mark so we needed to find a decent sized location. When I took my mom to Primrose, she thought it would never work. When looking there about 10 years ago for my sister's wedding, it only held 70-80 people. Now, they have added a huge reception hall and can hold up to 300 people inside and out.
This is where the reception will be, which is attached to the house as well so the guests will have access to the whole property
We have decided to hold our wedding there as well. The ceremony can be held either on the front lawn or the back courtyard. Both places are gorgeous! Here is a picture of the home
The big "to-do" has been checked off. Now we get to start the "fun" stuff. I put the word fun in quotations, as many brides will agree, it is very stressful. Don't get me wrong, it is "fun", but its hard when you have so many people giving their input and so many different ideas going around. There have been frustrations and even a few tears, but its going to happen. I know what Robby and I like and want, but I have a pretty good feeling most of its not going to happen. But you know, its one day and it will be special and beautiful no matter what. At least in my eyes. I guess its a good thing that I am laid back (when I need to be) and just want to get married to Robby, so hopefully that will keep my frustrations and stress to a minimum. I know the past few weeks have been crazy, but lets just hope that it gets better from here (probably not as we only have 7-8 months, but hey, I'm just going to tell myself that). Really in truly, it doesn't have to be perfect, we don't have to spend thousands of dollars, deciding/disagreeing on this or that will be forgotten and in the end, Robby and I will be starting our lives together.
Another update. I took Robby and his mom over to Primrose to see the house. From what they told me, they liked it. Thank goodness, as that would not have been a good thing. I know I booked a place without consulting my fiance, but I was hoping I knew him well enough that I would pick something he liked. There are a few things we will have to "work out" but overall, it was a good day. We had dinner with our friends on Friday night which was nice getting to catch up. Dave Ramsey's Financial seminar on Saturday was awesome! We learned a lot and even though we don't have "huge debt", its a great way to get on track with your money and start saving for your future. Saturday night was Erica and Jared's wedding in Marietta. She was sooo gorgeous, as I knew she would be. We are so excited for their new life together and wish them the best!
Well, another week has started. Lets see what exciting things can happen this week! Stay tuned......
Yay! Beautiful wedding spot! It'll be a gorgeous southern wedding!
