That's the name of our new toy - or at least what I am calling it. Robby has been searching for a canoe for awhile now. He had seen a bunch on craigslist but was waiting for just the right deal. Now that he has picked up his swimming distance, I can't keep up with him. So this was the perfect time to really find a good canoe so that I could paddle along next to him while he swims. I don't want him out there on the water all by himself, you never know what could happen. I mean, it takes him a good 45 minutes to swim the 1 mile, when he starts doing over 2, I would be a little worried. Plus who knows what is in that lake! So Saturday morning we got up early and headed to the lake where he does his training - Lake Acworth. It's only about 20 minutes from the house. So we strapped the canoe down into the truck, all 15 feet of it, and we were on our way. I was a little nervous though. It's huge and I wasn't sure how it would work, with just me in there trying to steer it. It's a 2 seater canoe, but could fit up to 3 people. I sat in the back and had one paddle to steer my way through the lake. Robby started his swim and I followed. I was able to get the hang of it really quickly and started having a lot of fun. I did a few 360's in the lake. I didn't want to hit Robby or have him get to close to the canoe so I needed to find ways to stay behind him since I could obviously paddle quicker than he could swim. It was sooo hot out on the lake but it was a nice and peaceful ride. I really really enjoyed it. Once Robby was done with his swim, he wanted to take it out for a quick spin too so we both hopped back in and went around the cove. We are so excited to have this new toy. I am really looking forward to more days on the lake. Its a white water canoe but I don't think we will go to that extreme with it. Below are a few pics of our new canoe. If anyone wants to join us sometime, let me know!!
