Cake Tastings and Invites!!

I'm officially getting old, and almost a married women, its a Friday night and I'm blogging :) but you know what, I wouldn't want it any other way. I'm with the one I love and I'm happy doing whatever it is as long as we are together.

Ok, enough of that mushy stuff. On to the yummy cake tastings!!! We headed out last weekend to taste a few cakes. We started off with Publix just because we had heard some good things about their cakes and it was easy. Well, not so much. The cake was nothing special. Just tasted like something you would have at a birthday party or something. They weren't all that accommodating. Maybe because we just came in there without an appointment (not sure you can even make an appointment there). But it was so confusing, they didn't really help with our questions on the types of cakes and different filling flavors. They barely gave us one sample. So it was on to the next bakery, quickly! A coworker of mine mentioned she had gotten her cake in Roswell at a place called Rhodes Bakery and for a very reasonable price. She showed me a picture of it and it looked beautiful. There's nothing like cake from a family bakery!! We walked in the store and immediately you could smell all the yumminess! I was excited about this one. They were super friendly, got us started right away with all the different types of cakes, fillings, decorations, heights, etc etc etc. They brought us tons of samples and they were all soooooo good. I knew right then and there we were going to go with them. And they were very reasonably priced, why would you say no? We picked our type of cake, but that will be a surprise for those at the wedding! I can't wait to pick out the design and will definitely be looking forward to that part of the reception! mmmmm, mmmmm.

So we are probably a little behind on the invitations, maybe not, but I wanted to get them out early so we can get the RSVP's back. My mom ended up finding a very pretty, yet simple, set of invitations. We took them to get engraved and got them back this week. It was interesting because I thought it would be a simple process picking out the font, style, and what we wanted to say. Well, not so much. After work one day, I met my mom at Paper Affair in East Cobb. I thought we would have a couple hours to look over everything but when we got there, they were about to close. The sweet girls working there let us stay for about an hour or 2 and helped up pick everything out. They were so patient with my mom and I. We kept going back and forth between all the fonts. Who knew there were so many to choose from? It finally got narrowed down to one type of font and we just had to wait for the proof. Sounds pretty easy, not so much. My mom didn't like the first proof, then about 4 proofs later we got what we wanted. Thank you Paper Affair for being so patient and accommodating with us! Highly recommend them for invitation printing. Very reasonably priced and they did them in a week! I can not wait to get these out on Monday. My sister and mom are working on printing the addresses on them this weekend and when my mom gets back from Pittsburgh, we will stamp and stuff all the invites. Now it will be up to all you out there to quickly get your RSVP's back, or be expecting some phone calls :) :)

We have so many little things that still need to be done. I have hit the point where all I want to do is stay home and work on wedding stuff. Mainly because I don't want to forget anything and I want to have it all organized, but also because I'm sooooo excited that I'm ready to do everything, now! I know I shouldn't wish this time away, but I'm ready. Its hard for me to focus at work now, I can't imagine what its going to be like as we get closer.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Next post, maybe revealing our honeymoon destination!!?? :)
