My First Blog Post!

Well, here goes nothing! I am starting a blog. I never thought I would have anything exciting or interesting enough to blog about. Well, now I do! I guess I will start from the beginning, no really, the VERY BEGINNING of it all.

Robby and I met in May 2009. We hit it off right away! Even though he went to Walton - the rival high school of Pope, and is a Georgia fan. Technically, that is 2 strikes in my book, but he was cute and so sweet, I thought I would give him a chance. After a few dates, I decided to introduce him to my friends. My friends mean a lot to me and its important that they like the guy I am dating. I definitely wanted their approval before falling for him. He passed, thankfully! I knew if my friends liked him, he would be safe to meet the parents. Over the next few months, we spent so much time getting to know each, learning, as Robby calls it, each others "quirks". Of course if Robby was writing this, he would have a long list of my "quirks" that he can laugh about. But, for me, I learned that I was not folding my towels correctly, how to load a dishwasher properly, and that there is no need to get somewhere early (or even on time). Life is to short to always be rushing places. Things (and people) can wait. Haha. No really, I learned to slow down in life and really enjoy the time we were spending together. We also got to visit a lot of cool places. From New Orleans, to Chicago, to Hilton Head, to Colorado, to Chattanooga, and Nashville, we have done it all and with TONS of pictures to remember everything. I think I have done more in the past year than I have in 10 years. At least it sure feels like it. And to be able to experience it with the one you love, even better!

So, a little bit about Robby. He LOVES to run. I mean LOVES it. I hated it. Well, maybe hate is a strong word. I have always wanted to run, but just kept telling myself I couldn't do it. Robby has taught me that you can do anything you set you mind to. He got me into running and I completed my first half marathon in Nashville in April of this year. It was such a great experience! What was even better was that 2 of my good friends from work and their boyfriends joined us. We started the training in December 09/January 2010. We would run on weekends and completed a few races together. So getting to Nashville and actually crossing the finish line was such an amazing weekend. 13.1 miles - yes, i really did run that far. Crazy, I know. I remember seeing the mile 1 marker and thinking "omg! i still have 12.1 miles to go, I am never going to get there alive". So I am sure our wedding will have some kind of running theme around it.

We are so fortunate to both be from Marietta and for both of our families to still live here. They are actually within 10-15 miles of each other. We really enjoy being able to go over to their houses for dinner or just to visit. You will learn later how much they mean to us and what all they did in the help of our engagement.

We can not express enough how much we love them and thank them for all that they do. I will post later the detailed story of how Robby proposed, but for now.... We are so excited to be engaged and to start planning a wedding. We have our first appointment to visit a wedding reception site on Saturday. Will let you know how it goes...

Below is one of our first pictures together.. Draft on Taft 2009
